Workouts that won’t bore you
While getting in shape is one of those things that’s perennially on top of everyone’s New Year’s Resolution list, many people give up after becoming sick and tired of the drudgery of pounding out the miles of the treadmill at the gym, or of lifting set after set of weights. If you’re finding yourself tiring of your standard workouts, or unable to get motivated to even begin in the first place, maybe it’s time to consider some different types of exercise that will not only give you a workout, but that you’ll enjoy, too.
- Walking with friends . Power-walking is a great way to get in shape, and it can be a whole lot of fun if you have a walking partner to accompany you. Get some of your friends together for regular walking suggestions, and treat yourself to a coffee (but not the cake!) at the end of it.
- Dancing and dance classes. Depending on the type of dance you pick to learn, dancing can be high impact, or low impact, but regardless of style, it’s great for working your legs and core, and enhancing overall fitness. Whether you just head out with the girls, or you decide to take up formal classes, you’ll be having so much fun that you won’t even realise that you’re giving your body a good workout session!
- Games you played as a kid. Yep, it’s time to get out the rollerblades, the Frisbee, and the hula-hoop. These activities are all great for overall fitness, and work different parts of your body. They’re also great fun to play with your friends, or with your kids. Don’t worry about being self-conscious—just get out there and enjoy yourself, and work those muscles as though you’re five years old again!
Nic’s surprise party: I think I know what we should put together. We should sort out some time at chalet val thorens, I hear they have an amazing spa there and a really great yoga instructor.
