There are certain foods that will not only boost your diet but also your running. Here are a few nutrient packed foods that will provide you with antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins that will help to ensure you optimum running.

Bison. This meat when compared to beef is lower in saturated fat and also has higher protein. You can get half of your daily vitamin B12 and about 30 percent of your daily zinc and iron needs from a 3.5 ounce serving. These are crucial for your muscle to function properly and for its recovery.

Mushrooms. These are rich in potassium which is necessary for fluid balance in the body. They are also rich in L-ergothioneine which is an antioxidant not found in most foods and helps to fight free radicals that attack the body.

Hemp seed oil. You can get your daily omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids requirements from just a single tablespoon of this oil. This means that it is good for controlling inflammation and heart health.

Raisins. Now everyone usually have raisins in their pantry. It is considered a good on-the-go-fuel since you can get 30 grams of carbs from just two tablespoons. This makes them an idea snack for a run that is just about an hour long.
